I offer an online subscription-based services that provides highly structured, high-interest independent reading passages for deaf children. These passages are designed to eliminate the barriers that make learning to read a challenge for deaf children. They serve as a bridge for deaf students to feel success while  developing language skills and learning the more complex nature of written English.

My commitment continues through activities, worksheets, centers, and other materials that support literacy development. I am proud to offer numerous supplemental resources to the Bedrock Literacy Curriculum, a pioneering program that uses visually based approaches to teach foundational literacy skills to deaf students. These resources can only be found on my Teachers Pay Teachers store.

Founder's Story

In 2011, I established a Teachers Pay Teachers store to offer materials to ease the burden of teachers so they can focus their energy on teaching.

In 2021, I founded Mind Bloom Education, LLC due to my frustration with the lack of educational materials designed specifically for deaf children.

I used principles from the Bedrock Literacy Curriculum to develop highly structured reading passages that deaf children can successfully read independently. I see these resources as the

missing bridge for deaf children to ultimately achieve reading fluency.

Throughout my career, I have been an outspoken advocate for high-quality and equitable education for all deaf children. I strongly believe in utilizing a deaf child’s individual strengths when teaching new concepts.

I advocate for the use of teaching strategies that are developmentally appropriate for a deaf child’s brain

and language growth.

I earned a B.S. in Deaf Studies and M.Ed. in Deaf Education from Boston University and received my Ed.D.

in Educational Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands. Additionally, I hold a National

Interpreter Certification.

I have worked in both deaf school and public school settings. I have served as a teacher of the deaf, district reading specialist for the deaf, and a special education director. I have presented at local, state, and national conferences and frequently consults with teachers, parents, and organizations about deaf education.
